Description
There was a transaction posted on my credit card on XXXX for {$1800.00} from XXXX XXXX. I called Bank of America ( the bank which the credit card it from ) to report a fraud charge on my card. The representative from BofA asked if I am still in possession of the card. I responded, yes. The representative stated that there was no need to send a new card then and then escalated my case to the fraud department. Around XXXX, I noticed the charge reappeared on my credit card statement. I called the BofA again and asked what the problem was. The representative on the phone stated that they contacted the vendor and the vendor stated that I inserted the chip to complete the transaction and also verified the transaction via phone. I asked the representative how the transaction was verified, was it through logging in to the app, or was it by verifying through text. The representative did not give an answer to this question. I immediately changed the password on my BofA app because I felt that my account may have been compromised. I stated I did not verify this purchase or use my card for this transaction. I called again on XXXX because I noticed that the charge was still on my card statement. I called the fraud department number that I received through the automated help chat via the banking app. I spoke to a representative that told me that she would call me back. I was incredibly confused what she meant by that, and asked her. She stated that she would call me from a different number so that she could she my account. She did call me back from a different XXXX number, and then asked me to verify my account. I told her that I did not feel comfortable having her call me from a different number and then her asking me to verify my account. I hung up the phone, and called the number on the back of my credit card. After waiting, I was put in touch with someone again. I complained to her that my previous interaction was incredibly odd, and went against everything protocol I knew. I then asked her why I was never issued a new card, if the previous representative from XXXX claims that I used the chip to verify the transaction. She stated that she was also confused by the way this fraud investigation was being conducted. She also was confused by my previous interaction of being called back from a different number while on the phone with a representative already. She issued me a new card and said that she would escalate my fraud claim. The transaction still appears on my credit card, and I am getting no information on if it will ever be rectified.
