Description
My mother received an email from XXXX with a {$480.00} invoice for bitcoin. Invoice included a phone # that she called. The man she spoke to had a thick accent and told her that her email had been hacked in NY, NJ, and Ohio and offered to connect her to the fraud dept of her bank. Then he transferred her to XXXX at " XXXX XXXX Fraud Dept. '' She asked for the following information that my mother provided. Name Date of birth Last four of social security number She told them she has a XXXX Credit Card and Debit Card along w/ checking and savings accounts I do not believe she was really talking to XXXX and that she's been a victim of a scam. She is an elderly woman whose husband is in the hospital with XXXX XXXX XXXX and just had a XXXX XXXX. She is overwhelmed and didn't think about who she was giving her information to.
