Description
I submitted a valid blocking request to TransUnion on XX/XX/2025, fully complying with all requirements under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) Section 605B. I provided my official FTC Identity Theft Report ( Report No. XXXX ), identified the fraudulent account ( XXXX XXXXXXXX ), and included all supporting documentation. Federal law is clear : once a consumer provides an FTC Identity Theft Report, the credit bureau must block the fraudulent information within four ( 4 ) business days. Instead, more than 30 days have passed, and TransUnion continues to report this fraudulent account on my file. This is not a clerical errorit is a direct violation of federal law that is causing me serious harm. My credit score remains artificially XXXX Ive been denied legitimate credit applications, I face higher interest rates when approved, and I was even denied housing. The stress of fighting an account I never opened is affecting my health, productivity, and financial stability. What makes this worse is that TransUnion already had everything it needed to comply. The agency is deliberately ignoring its legal duty, prolonging the damage, and undermining the very protections Congress put in place under Section 605B. Instead of protecting me, they are allowing this fraudulent account to remain active in my reportdespite the FTC report and clear evidence that it should have been blocked immediately. This is a serious, ongoing violation of my consumer rights, and I am asking the CFPB to intervene because TransUnions inaction is unlawful and unacceptable.
