Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a small business per SBA size standards
  • At least 51% unconditionally owned by one or more service-disabled veterans
  • Service-disabled veteran must control day-to-day management and long-term decision-making
  • Service disability must be documented by VA disability rating letter
  • Veteran must hold the highest officer position or have equivalent control
  • For VA contracts: separate CVE verification required through VetBiz portal

Certification Process

Government-wide certification through SBA's VetCert portal (veterans.certify.sba.gov). Applicants submit DD-214, VA disability rating letter, ownership documents, and management/control evidence. SBA reviews ownership, control, and size eligibility. For VA-specific contracts, additional CVE verification through VetBiz. Processing time approximately 90 days.
