How to Obtain

Register at SAM.gov by creating a login.gov account, then completing the entity registration process. This includes providing legal business information, financial details (banking for EFT), NAICS codes, socioeconomic certifications, and points of contact. Initial registration typically takes 7-10 business days for government validation.

Contracting Relevance

An active SAM registration is a prerequisite for receiving any federal contract award. Contracting officers verify SAM status before making awards, and an expired registration can delay or prevent payment. SAM data feeds into FPDS, USAspending, and agency procurement systems. Representations and certifications entered in SAM are incorporated by reference into every contract.

Requirements

• Login.gov account
• Legal business name and physical address
• TIN/EIN and banking information for EFT
• NAICS codes relevant to business activities
• Annual renewal required — registration expires after 365 days
• Notarized letter for new registrations (entity validation)
