Painted Flight Line Optical Communications

TRAXyL has invented FiberTRAX - a way to essentially “paint” fiber-optic communication lines directly onto pavement. The method eliminates the need to trench cables underground, or string them along utility poles. The lines can be installed on demand, in minutes, without significantly disrupting or delaying commercial or flight line operations because no surface restoration is required. FiberTRAX lines provide high capacity bandwidth, are extremely low profile, yet are durable, and can withstand vehicular and pedestrian traffic minutes after installation. FiberTRAX is simple, safe, and inexpensive compared to alternatives. For example, when burying ~1,000’ of fiber cable under hard surfaces, one could expect FiberTRAX to reduce the installation time from weeks or months to days or hours. There is no risk of damaging existing utilities like communication lines, gas, water, or power because cutting or drilling beneath the surface is not required. The installation is completed faster and minimizes the safety risks to the installer, reducing labor hours while maximizing safety. TRAXyL can quickly and safely provide communication links across a flight line or an entire base in much less time than it takes to, design, get approval, install, and restore the surface of a traditional fiber installation.
