Description

I am formally requesting the immediate removal of the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( ending in XXXX ) and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX ) from my Equifax credit report due to the Equifax data breach and its direct impact on my financial records. My personal information was compromised due to Equifaxs failure to properly safeguard consumer data, which violates multiple federal laws and raises significant concerns about the accuracy and security of any financial accounts linked to my identity. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) 15 U.S.C. 1681, Equifax is required to maintain maximum possible accuracy in consumer reports ( 1681e ( b ) ), yet the breach has compromised the integrity of my credit data. Additionally, under 1681c-2, I have the right to request the blocking or removal of inaccurate, fraudulent, or unverifiable information resulting from identity theft or data exposure. Given the nature of the Equifax breach, these accounts can not be fully verified as legitimate and should not remain on my report. Furthermore, the Federal Trade Commission Act ( FTCA ) 15 U.S.C. 45 prohibits unfair and deceptive business practices, and Equifaxs failure to secure my personal and financial information has subjected me to unwarranted financial risks and undue burden. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act ( GLBA ) 15 U.S.C. 6801-6809 also mandates that financial institutions protect consumer data. Equifaxs breach violated these protections, and as a result, any accounts reported in my name must be considered compromised and removed immediately. Because of these violations, I am demanding that Equifax : Immediately remove the XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX accounts from my credit report. Provide written confirmation of the deletions within 30 days in compliance with the FCRA. Ensure that any future fraudulent or compromised accounts resulting from the data breach are automatically removed without requiring repeated disputes. If Equifax fails to comply, I am prepared to escalate this issue to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ), Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ), and my State Attorney Generals Office, as well as pursue legal action for willful violations of the FCRA, which allows for statutory damages up to {$1000.00} per violation plus legal fees. I expect prompt action on this matter and look forward to written confirmation that these accounts have been deleted.
