15a PRIMED:Preparation & Requisition of Integrated Microscopy + Energy Data

New innovations in microscopy instrumentation, greater complexity of experiments and science projects, new detectors and automation are increasing data generation and computing demand by orders of magnitude. At private and public energy research facilities across the nation, data is being generated at unprecedented volume, however due to the lack of tools adhering to principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability, this data frequently goes unused by the broader research community. We propose to build a platform to organize, manage, and share microscopy data. In order to solve this important issue, we will combine expertise in machine learning data preparation to develop a novel platform that enables data mining for academic, scientific, and industrial user communities. In Phase I, a user interface will be built to sort and classify energy data in use by the research community. The platform will demonstrate the aggregation of multimodal data to ensure the success of the data management software tool. The platform will integrate with at least one data source provider, and also enable the annotation of this data through a front-end interface. Academia research institutions along with key industry companies in semiconductors, chemical, microscopy manufacturers, and environmental agencies are natural customers for this solution.
