DFARS is the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement: the Department of Defense supplement to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), codified at 48 CFR Chapter 2. It adds the DoD-specific acquisition rules and contract clauses that apply on top of the FAR when the Pentagon buys goods and services, and it is administered by DoD's Defense Pricing, Contracting, and Acquisition Policy (DPCAP) office.
DFARS covers everything from cybersecurity requirements (especially the CMMC framework) to small-business set-asides, supply-chain protections, and clauses specific to defense work. If you work with the DoD as a vendor, DFARS is the rulebook that applies in addition to the FAR.
